While reading an older issue of VIBE magazine, I came across an article by Greg Tate about why hip hop will last forever. Something that stood out to be was when he highlighted that "The day it matters what anybody over 25 thinks about hip hop is the day hip hop will have truly died as a culture and become like jazz- a history lesson in need of its Ken Burns," will I lose interest in my romance with hip hop at 25? What is it about this counter culture that engages the ears and hearts of the young? If the article bears true, and hip hop does continue forever, constructed by raps of whatever influences the youth at the time : "crunk," "thizz," what have you... the possibilities are endless.

But I figure, as long as there's a beat that catches me. That keeps my head nodding and me vibein' , I figure i'll be in the game forever. Its all about the soul man.

X-mas Wish List

1) For some reason, I've always been drawn to two things. a) Cosmetic cases, preferably adorable. A favorite of my collection is a zebra-print Kate Spade. and b) Fendi (most likely due to my favorite sunglasses I purchased two years ago,) so when browsing the SaksFifthAvenue webpage, I was delighted to find this sexy little case. Black patent leather, monogram Fendi print, gold detailing. It's gorgeous, and most definitely on my list.

2) Without ever really wanting a watch, I was very drawn towards this seasons D&G timepiece collection. So following the makeup bag, I'm asking for one of these...
a) Royal Crystal Watch, $425
b) Queen Mary Cuff Watch, $395

3) And last, but not least, the search for a good wallet... Back to Fendi, thinking of this.
My only concern is that it might be too old lady. If anyone else knows of Continental wallets I should look into, send me a comment.

Wow, over the course of Thanksgiving and all of its craziness I've realized I haven't posted for nearly ten days. I swear the moment holiday cheer is in the air time the really starts to fly. This year I've really enjoyed the company of my family and friends. M and I got a chance to catch up together and everytime I'm with him I see what a big role he's beginning to play in my life. At last I feel him and my family have been able to bond a little. I'm so lucky to have found someone so special.
With the homecoming of my brother came his crew of friends. This morning we had a lovely breakfast before they all departed back east.
As the week makes way for my regular routine, I dread the following obligations. Emotionally I'm not sure I'm ready to face the funeral services of my friends. Their presence still rings in my heart. Once someone had died it's so easy to feel them around you, hearing songs that hold memories, driving by their house. The loss of someone so young and so full of life is a hard thing to grasp. I'm so thankful that my holidays were spent so close to my loved ones, I feel their spirit will help me though the coming challenges.

M.I.A. and Cool Kids

After a pretty stressful evening, I finally found myself at the Roseland Theatre in Portland for the Cool Kids and the amazingg M.I.A.
I'm still at a loss of words, to be real. The show was incredible. I love it when Portland really gets down, it was just a big dance party. Not to mention I was pulled onstage (!!).
SO HEY any fans out there, if you get the chance to catch this show do it.
But for now, I need to passs out.

The Black Sheep of the Closet

We all have them. Those items in your closet which get purchased, then forgotten. Ignored when you're running late to a dinner date and overlooked when you do that annual Goodwill run. Because, you know, what if you need it someday? Well. I've been trying to break those bad boys out for a little wear-time lately. Today's outfit consisted of a bright bright orange polo tee dress from American Apparel which was purchased last spring. Matched with the rather bold royal blue long hanging tank, the two made an unexpectedly flattering combo. Over tights, of course.

Next on the list? A white Juicy Couture button-up blouse with gold buttons. For some reason the fit of the shirt was never quite as flattering as I'd once imagined it would be. However, the short length of the blouse matched with a long Free People army green (cape kinda) button up evens everything out. And paired with black skinny Rock & Republics and some heels it makes quite the statement. Who would've thought!

p.s. My iTunes has returned! *whew*

Silence Before The Storm

Okay, so... before my day gave way to a handful of technology malfunctions and stressful encounters, the worst happened. My music is gone. Or missing. Or something, because suddenly my itunes is empty. Thousands of songs gone. The two songs left are,
"The Heart Gently Weeps" Wu-Tang Clan, and
"Breakin My Heart" -Little Brother

New Era

Within the past week I've added two "hip" applications to my life. One being the purchase of a BlackBerry. The other, a blog. I feel like now I'm a slave to the game of my culture, hell... I can even update my new blog ON my new BlackBerry. One word for the trends of my generation: inner-connectivity. Everyone and everything is created as one, all inter-linked and associated with one another. Example a: renting DVD's at McDonalds. The world of convenience, advertising and consumerism are now one.

On another note, this blog will report on trends, music, culture, media, whatever else I feel fit at the moment. Along with, of course, the obsessions. What music I'm obsessed with, what beauty products I rave about, you get it.

Speaking of which...
Beauty: Years ago I was introduced to Chanel beauty. As a company they have the reputation of prestigious quality, top-of-the-line technology, the whole sha-bang. But to me, they're the basics. I couldn't be happier about the commercial, it encompasses the elegance and charm of the company as well as the luxury fairy-tale way in which every lady feels in the holiday season.
